Paniyiri 2018 | LIFE

Last weekend I went with some friends to Paniyiri for the afternoon.
The weather was warm, the sun was shining, and Musgrave Park was filled with hundreds and hundreds of people queuing for delicious smelling Greek food. There was also cooking demonstrations at the Greek Club, traditional dancing at the main stage, market stalls, and celebrity meet ups.

Personally, I was there for the food and it didn't disappoint. Generally my favourite things to eat there are: honeypuffs, baklava, and yiros. Unfortunately, I didn't take as many photos of what I ate (or my time there in general). I was too busy soaking everything in, but here are some photos I did take from that afternoon.
Such a beautiful day!
Honeypuffs!

One of the market stalls opposite the Greek Club.
A smoky little laneway near the handicraft stalls and the Greek Club, filled with even more food and drinks!
This year was also the first time that attendees that pre-bought their tickets online could get free public transport to and from the event (and it also saved us a bit of time not having to line up at the ticketing area!).

I called up Translink the day before to confirm that all I had to do was show my ticket to my bus driver, and they confirmed that saying that all bus drivers would be aware of this arrangement for the festival. Using the bus on my way back from Paniyiri was fine, but going to the event my bus driver had no idea about this arrangement which was slightly concerning. For a moment there I didn't think they were going to let us on the bus, but thankfully it was fine and we made it Musgrave Park!

Overall, I had a great afternoon and wish I could have spent more time at the event. However, the coverage of the Royal Wedding was happening pretty early that evening and I wasn't going to miss it!
